The campers were invited along to a golf outing at Verandah Club near Fort Myers Shores. Bert Blyleven set up the golf tourney and each foursome included three campers and one pro staffer. Our favorite campers were treated to golfing with Frank "Sweet Music" Viola. Viola won the Cy Young Award, World Series MVP, and a 3 time all star. His golf game lines up with his success on the baseball field.
The foursome (well threesome - another person failed to show up) ended up 6 under - mostly from the help of Viola - PB and MW had their moments. They were lucky enough to have Blyleven's group in front of them and were able to catch up with the Blyleven foursome on the next tee boxes every couple holes - it was fun to hear Bert let the "f-word" fly out of his mouth. MW's highlight was a 300 yard drive as he was working on his Happy Gilmore impression - straight as an arrow and long - Frank was really impressed.
PB: A couple good drives, a couple good chips, one or two decent putts
MW: Outdrove Viola multiple times, a few other good shots and a couple good putts
Let's be clear - PB and MW had plenty of ugly shots and Frank made sure they knew about it.
