We play 2 games on monday and campers were ready to show off their tremendous baseball skills.
We played the End of Dawn team and things worked out for us pretty good and we got into the win column with a 12-3 victory -- we had our #1 pitcher on the mound and he went five solid innings to pace us out. I found a 2 RBI hit with a blooper to right field in the first inning to the scoring going for us as we scored 3 runs in the top of the first inning.
The 2nd game - we did the same thing -- we started out well - we were the home team and after the first inning we had a nice 4-0 lead. The Sandbaggers lived up to there team name and came back and scored 8 unanswered runs in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th innings -- up 8-4, we head out to the field and some clouds were rolling in -- storms can pop up in Florida real quick, they generally throw some fat rain around and it moves on -- well it did just that and 30 minutes later the camp decided to call the games despite some sun peeking through -- the game is called after 4 innings and Game 7 loses 8-4.
Guess what -- I don't care -- I don't care -- it's been great to be here playing some baseball - so despite only playing 4 innings -- I don't care.
We have our team dinner tonight and one of my teammates said it best, "I look forward to this dinner every camp" -- it's team bonding at its best and it's always enjoyable.
Tomorrow we play 2 more games -- and the Tuesday afternoon is by far when your body is saying, "Oh boy!" so let's hope that calf that is a little sore today is fine and the back and legs still feel fine.
Standings (as I can tell):
Last Call 2-0
Sandbaggers 2-0
Tomatoes 1-1
Rat Poison 1-1
Game 7 1-1
End Before Dawn 1-1
Rocks/Cows 0-2
Junk 0-2
Tuesday is a swing day -- pitching depth will be tested.....
Thank you, Young Paul. I always appreciate your recaps & observations!
