The weather this week has been absolutely spectacular -- the temps have been lower 70's - beautiful blue skies - a little breeze this morning but perfect for some baseball.
We played the 40 40 Club and they got out to quick 1-0 lead, but we struck back with 3 in the 2nd to take the lead and we didn't let it go -- we ended up cruising to a victory 10-3 as we got another great pitching performance from Greg Dahl. I ended up being a victim of a swinging strikeout from none other Jeff Belzer -- it was sort of an interesting AB since none of the pitches were strikes (I felt like I had to swing at the last pitch since it was 3-2 count and it was a tad high....but don't want to get rung up). The Ump had a huge strike zone (which is cool) but wow, 2 of the pitches way off the outside corner so at the end of the day, it's a strikeout....but first time I struck out, swinging only once and having 6 pitches that were balls. Belzer actually stuck out about 5 or 6 guys -- but he couldn't find the strike zone enough to make it work.
The cool part about today's game -- this is game #5 and we have yet to use the same pitcher twice - that has to be first time that has happened....so pretty cool. We should be ok to pitch our decent pitchers tomorrow even and look good for Friday's matchup.
We have moved up to the 3 seed since our tiebreaker of runs against is pretty solid - but as of right now, we have 4 teams sitting at our same record of 3-2. The other fun thing at camp today -- the Dirty Dozen with an 0-4 record going into today's matchup, knocked off the undefeated Repeaters 6-1, they were a huge underdog!!!!
Updated Standings
1) Coyote Uglies 4-1
2) Repeaters 4-1
3) Game 7 3-2
4) We are Family 3-2
5) Leftovers 3-2
6) Fantasize This 3-2
7) Team Smoke 2-3
8) 40 40 Club 1-4
9) Nite Crawlers 1-4
10) Dirty Dozen 1-4
So it looks like a fight for the bottom 2 seeds and a huge mix mash of teams in the 3-6 seeds with Coyote and Repeaters most likely in the top 4. Tomorrow will be all about matchups -- if those 3-6 seeds are all playing each other it could be a clown show of 3-4 and 4-3 teams hoping they don't give up a lot of runs - I think the 7-10 seeds are playing for the bottom 2....
Rest up boys - we play 2 tomorrow....
