Hump Day -- We play just one today

It was an overcast day here in Fort Myers -- but it was a brisk 66 degrees at first pitch.  The 2-2 PED's were matched up against the 1-3 38 Special -- a big swing game as who ever loses this game is probably destined for the bottom four -- really need to find a way to 4 wins so you can grab that top 4 spot.  I was pitching today with my usual one day off -- I have found a nice Mon-Wed-Friday rotation mix -- granted I have been shelled the last two fridays -- so maybe I shouldn't plan on pitching on Friday.....but back to the Weds game.  I was up against another fine lefty in Tarron Borgeson - he stands about 8 inches taller than me (maybe more) -- the last time I faced him he struck me out a couple times so I was hoping to fare better this time around.

We were the home team today so I went out and got the game off in fine fashion by striking out the first to batters, a base hit and then a ground out to end the inning.  Our bats came to battle today and I even chipped in a hit and a run into the mix and we ended up scoring the maximum 5 runs -- so it was 5-0 after the first.  I gave up a hit in the 2nd inning but able to get the next guys outs for an easy inning -- the 3rd inning was even better -- I threw 3 pitches and induced three ground balls -- I enjoy getting anyone out on one pitch so that was a much needed easy inning.  I ran into a little trouble in the 5th inning - my legs were a little tired as I walked the first 2 batters (even though I struck out he first guy twice -- and he even told me that those were strikes as well - thanks Bob) but Big Eddie throw out a guy at home and I was able to get a pop out to shortstop to end the rally.  We put another 2 runs on the board as I doubled home a run in the 6th to get us to 7 runs -- the top of the 7th came and was able to go 1-2-3 -- three ground outs and the PED's were back into the left hand column.

Felt good being on the mound and I probably only threw about 80 pitches which was even better - gotta get that arm rested up for the next game.

Standings after 5 games:

Yo Julio's      4-1
Sleepers        4-1
Warriors        3-2
PED's             3-2
BSer's            2-3
Saggy's          2-3
Stingers         1-4
38 Special      1-4

Now time for a nap......
