It is Sunday and it is sunny and warm out there

Camp is officially here -- we started off the day doing some instructional drills which include batting practice, infield/outfield practice, pitching and catching tips.   The Pro Staff are at each station -- I got to hit off of Rick Aguilera during live BP and hit few line drives off and the swing feels pretty good at this point.  Dave was able to swing against Frank Viola -- DS mentioned that Viola wouldn't give him anything to hit and I think Viola was purposely pitching him low to see if he could hit him.  The Pro's are that good, they can pitch to any location -- as it was DS felt good against him and Viola was impressed (Frankie told me).

Bert Talking about hitters getting themselves out

The afternoon consisted of a quick 4 inning game with the rookies showing their skills off to the pro staff. The Pro's are getting information that will be helpful to them during the draft.   The pro staff will draft this afternoon the teams that will be playing for the week.  I was sitting with Soup Campbell, Dave Goltz, and Frank Viola at lunch and Bill "Soup" Campbell asked Dave if this is his first camp -- Dave replied, "Yes" - Campbell then told Dave that one of the best parts of camp is the draft -- I made a mention of this before but in reality these guys are drafting "real life" fantasy baseball teams and these competitive coaches want to win.  They are going to do their best to draft the best players and put together the championship team for the week!

Tonight the teams will be announced and this blogger will attempt to make crazy predictions about how each team will do -- but the hard part is figuring out who will stay healthy and how well some of these rookie campers will do!!
