We play 2 games on Thursday here at camp and it's sometimes called scramble day - we had a strange setup as after the morning games we had 4 teams with a record of 4-2. Game 7 were playing the bottom two teams in the standings and we won this morning by a score of 9-6, a bit closer than needed but got through the 7 innings and got the W -- so we were 5-1. But with the next 4 teams vying for spots in the "top" Blue Division bracket -- one team with a winning record would be left to be in the Red Division (the 5 seed).
We took care of business in our afternoon game - I lead off the game with an inside the park HR - I sent a line drive in between the right center and right fielder and as I was gliding into 3rd base with an easy triple, noticed the ball was still in the outfield -- so I decided to complete the journey and head home - we scored 2 more to to make it 3-0. We didn't do much the rest of the game -- but our defense came up big with ending the last 4 innings with double plays and we win 6-2. We secured the top seed with our 6 wins and only 1 loss.
Here are the updated standings (unofficial....but it's correct....)
#1 Game 7 6-1
#2 How's Your Tomatoes 5-2
#3 Sandbaggers 5-2
#4 Rat Poison 4-3
#5 Last Call 4-3
#6 End Before Dawn 3-4
#7 Rocks and Cows 1-6
#8 Junk 0-7
Friday's games will be the following matchups:
Game 7 vs Rat Poison (rematch of the 5-4 game we played against them earlier in the week - an epic battle)
How's Your Tomatoes vs Sandbaggers (Tomatoes took it to them 12-4 in the prior matchup)
The winner of those games will face off for the Blue Division Championship on Saturday (12pm game).
In the Red Division:
Last Call vs Junk (I can't imagine a scenario where Last Call doesn't win...Last call won 6-5 in their monday matchup)
EBD vs R&C (Rocks and Cows lineup is underrated - but EBD took it too them earlier in the week with 9-1 victory)
The winners of the Red Division matchups will be playing in the big stadium on Saturday at 9:30am.
Our team is in good shape - we are completely healthy and 15 strong!! We look forward to playing tomorrow and keeping the ride going. I get the ball tomorrow and it's one of those good news/bad news scenarios -- the team we are playing saw me, but I saw them as well.....we will also be facing a different pitcher than they had on the mound on Tuesday - so we will see. It's a long week and anything can happen.
