With 2 games in the books for the Ex-Terminators -- the fantasy camp has another 2 gamer planned. The weather forecast was looking a lot warmer than yesterday with a 79 as the high -- it was humid in the morning as they did get an overnight rain here in Ft. Myers.
We looked to keep our winning streak on a roll and we had our big horse Ben Kepple on the mound - he is a young stud (or stallion) who throws pretty hard -- but the question would be -- can he throw strikes? I will keep this brief -- he did not throw strikes and he was yanked in the 3rd inning after giving up 5 runs between the first couple and we were down early on 5-1. Our bats were very quiet as the Overachievers were pitching their young stud Blake Faust. He pitched very well, very smooth for the 3 innings he was allotted. (Blake is under the age of 30, and they are restricted to 3 innings of pitching for the camp.....no ringers!) He got this blogger out on a called strike three -- but his high tight curve-ball was not a strike, but if it was, no way I was going to hit it so we will be paying a fine for that at Kangaroo Court this evening. I tip my hat to Blake and he may have well struck me out later in the AB -- but I know the strike zone! (hehe) The Ex-Terminators just could not do anything right and ended up losing 7-3, our bats did not warm up against the 72 year old Dick Peters as he finished off the game with 5 innings, a very good outing by him.
The afternoon game was definitely a warm one - a good breeze was flowing through our dugout even though the sun was out and it felt hot! We were the visiting team and got out fast by scoring one run in the top of the 1st for our first lead of the day - we capped off the top of the 2nd inning by scoring 5 runs -- including a base hit RBI for this blogger. Our stud pitcher, Bill Clabots, threw plenty of strikes and our defense was worthy to the task and before long we had a 7-0 lead into the 5th inning - we tacked on 2 more runs -- I had a nice double over the head of the RF and eventually scored to push the lead to 9-0....and that was the final score. A nice victory and now we sit 3-1 in camp. The Re-Loads kept winning today and they are at 4-0!
Updated Standings (unofficial):
ReLoads 4-0
Ex-Terminators 3-1
On the Rox 2-2
Last Call 2-2
Overachievers 2-2
Belly-Ups 1-3
Dilly Dilly's 1-3
Lombo Stingers 1-3
We have Kangaroo Court with the Judge Bert Blyleven presiding over the evening. Lots of money will be raised to the Children's hospital here in SW Florida. I know I will be fined for looking at a strike 3 and possibly tweeting during the game - so I bring plenty of cash to cover my potential "fine-able" items deemed by the judge. It's a great evening. We will also be getting to spend time with long time Twins player and broadcaster Jim Kaat.
Well a good day - no injuries to report and our team is sitting at 3-1 -- no complaints.
