Wednesday is called hump day for a reason

We are now on Weds -- the old camp schedule only had a single game in the morning - the extra two teams the camp director decided to have another game in the afternoon -- so we play a doubleheader yet again -- but after today and 6 games in the books we would be officially on the back half of the schedule!

The first game of the day the No-Lo's were matched up against the 4-0 BruBekSki's -- a very stocked team here at camp.  I was going to be on the mound -- per instructions from our coach Ron Coomer.  After thinking about it, we made an executive decision and was going to have DS be the catcher -- so the roommates turned into battery mates for the morning game.   We were the home team and in the top of the first inning the BruBekSki's (who were averaging 13 runs per game) struck for one run after a monster blast off the bat of a "wounded warrior" -- we couldn't match a score in the bottom of the first so the game started out at 1-0.   Pitching was a big part of the game as I did a good job keeping the guys off balance -- more importantly DS was calling a great game behind the plate.  A catcher can make a huge difference for the pitcher -- if the pitcher can just receive the sign and location -- rock and fire -- the game can be pretty easy.  I was real happy with the first 5 innings of pitching -- working the ball in and out and up and down --  mixing in an occasional curveball and changeup -- through 4 1/2 innings the No-Lo's and Bru's were still locked into a 1-0 game.   The No-Lo's then came to bat in the 5th inning and decided that we needed to start scoring -- fortunately for us -- the pitcher for the Bru's started getting wild....and more wild -- the dust settled and we scored 5 runs with a mix of walks (most of them) and some timely hits.  DS had a 2 run single and then we also tacked on 3 more runs in the 6th inning -- staked out to a 8-1 lead going into the top of the 7th innings I headed to the mound to finish off the game -- without making this story longer -- after getting rocked for two very solid hits -- a couple walks and 2 errors -- we closed out the game with a win at 8-3.  A very nice victory and a lot of fun pitching to one of my good friends from summer baseball.

Game 6 DS was on the mound and we were facing another 4-1 team the C&C Crew.  This team is a good team as well so today's schedule looked a little daunting in the morning but the morning victory secured we were loose and ready to go.  We had Sorney on the mound -- what could go wrong?   Well from his first inning where he struck out the side -- the game went very well for DS -- after throwing 4 shutout innings -- the 5th inning is when C&C finally got an unearned run on the board -- the No-Lo's put up 1 run in the first but scored 5 runs to break the game open -- DS took care of business in the 6th inning and the No-Lo's won the game 7-1 -- we only played 6 innings since we had a time allotment we were running up against but notch another CG win for DS.   He surely is making a case for MVP & Rookie of the Year.   No-Lo's go into tomorrow with a 5-1 record and tied for first place -- we have set up ourselves for a top seed for the first round of the playoffs for Friday.

Standings after 6 games --

No-Lo's           5-1
BruBekSki's     5-1
Humble 13       4-2
Pro's Plus         4-2
C&C Crew      4-2
Padrones          3-3
Warriors           2-4
GagNe w/ a Spoon 2-4
YMBK            1-5
Mex Stingers    0-6

Tomorrow will be very interesting as teams scramble for those last playoff seeding positions -- the top 4 go to the upper bracket and the next four move into the the lower bracket -- the 9 & 10 seed will play a separate game on Friday morning.

This guy is tired -- time to get some rest.
