I decided that coming out to the Baseball Hall of Fame was in store – I mean I like baseball so why not check out the amazing history of the game I like (a little bit). While at the fantasy camp this January, the camp director Stan Dickman, was planning on putting together a trip package that the campers could purchase and be there in person to see Bert Blyleven’s induction into the HOF (Hall of Fame). At the time I was very interested and a couple months later decided the trip was an opportunity for a great time. The trip will consist of flying into Albany, NY on Friday (today) and leaving on Monday – so a nice 4 day trip. We will visit Cooperstown on Sat, Sun (Induction ceremony), and Monday. We have around 45 people in the group so it is nice to see many familiar faces.
We all met at the MSP airport at 6am – yes early, but the group had to check in together – while visiting with fellow campers I had this amazing sense that most of us where feeling very gitty. I mean….we are all baseball fans, many campers going to the HOF for the first time, and of course going to see our Camp Commissioner Bert getting inducted into the hall – what a great script! One camper remarked, “All week I was dreaming about this trip and was ready to go a few weeks ago!”. This will be my first trip out to Cooperstown – in fact my first trip to the state of New York. We are staying at the Turning Stone Casino and Resort (which is about an hour from Cooperstown). This adventure should prove very memorable and also this blog will serve as a journal of my thoughts and observations (and maybe a few pictures). I have received a lot of feedback from those who have been to Cooperstown before – quotes like, “It is amazing” “You will have a great time” “There are so many things to see and take in”
Tonight is all about some rest – big day tomorrow as I will spend it in Cooperstown – see link to check out the events going on in town.
Hall of Fame Weekend Plans
Sunday is the big day with Bert being inducted – I am not sure if the video will be tape delayed, but I will guarantee Bert will say, “Are we live?”
Also props out to my roommate who took his $40 of "free play" money at the casino and turned it into $550.00 at the slot machine.....and thanks for the beer!
