Tuesday Baseball - Let's play two more - Game #3

The C-A-C played two games today - it was a foggy start to the morning as the C-A-C was looking to build on their 2 game win streak. In the morning game C-A-C faced the "T-Rex's" managed by Dick Stigman, Tom Brunansky, and Kent Hrbek. The first inning started with both teams scratching a run in the top and bottom of the first for a 1-1 tie. The T-Rex's found some holes in the defense (generally that could mean errors by the players) and were able to plate another run for a 2-1 lead in the top of the 4th. I was playing mostly 3B and SS during this game. In the top of the fifth a camper hit a looping shallow pop up between third base and the mound. I was able to track the ball, slide (taking a rather large divot out of the grass) and make a nice diving grab. The best part was Kent Hrbek was coaching first base and yelled out, "Hey I can help you fix that!"
The fun part of camp when you relate your story to some of these big leaguers - I pointed out to Herbie later that my divot was quite significantly smaller in size than the one he created at Target Field. Well we head to the bottom of the sixth, we are trailing 2-1 and we put together a couple hits and a sacrifice fly to tie the game at 2-2. We hold the T-Rex's in the top of the 7th inning (we play 7 innings...not 9) and are going to try to win it in the last half of the inning. A walk, hit, and an error give us bases loaded and one out. Ryan McD is up at the bat, first pitch swinging he flares one over the head of the third basemen and the winning run comes home - CAC wins 4-3. Another close shave for the team but that puts us at 3-0.

Stats - 1 for 2, 1B

Cumulative hitting stats: 1 for 5, 1 Run, 2 BB's, SF, RBI

My timing is off at the plate - I am fouling a lot of pitches but not making contact - let's hope this trend doesn't continue.

In other news...I cannot find my stinkin' camera - one camper suggests that maybe someone found it and it will surface at Kangaroo Court this evening -- I am hoping for that outcome.
