Weds - It's hump day...

Like with work - today is a hump day - we played one game at 9:30am and were treated to the afternoon off to do our own thing.

We had our 5th starter (Mr. Watson) going for us on the hill today. Our team is stacked with pitching and while it's nice to get out there and throw a bit, it can take a toll on the body -- Ron would easily be your #1 starter if not the one of the best #2 option for your team -- but on our team he is our 1e starter -- we have 5 #1's -- which is crazy.

Ron did his thing pitched 7 innings and scattered a few hits -- he gave up 1 earned run in the first and other than one sloppy inning for us in the field and we gave up 2 runs -- he pitched excellent - in fact the last 3 innings were basically 1-2-3 and closed out the game in fine fashion.

We were trailing 1-0 into the top of the 2nd when we finally got some runs going and plated 3 runs - we added on from there and finally winning 12-3. I also finally found my swing going 3 for 3 with a double, single and triple and a few RBI along the way.

My sons had to go home today which was bittersweet but they had a fun time at camp - Frank Viola let my sons sit in the dugout and they were happy to do the scoreboard and maybe warm the pitcher up between innings -- the bad part with this experience - now they want to attend camp too!!  Oh bummer!!!

These are unofficial but i think they are good -- with maybe the Irrevelants with a #4 seed and 4905ers with the 5 seed.

Tomorrow we play 2 to finish out pool play - i will post some pictures later as we have Kangaroo Court, Dinner, and the Hall of Fame induction evening.

4 games in.....

The 2 game Tuesday is now in the books and Game 7 had a good day - since we were pitching our 1a & 1b pitchers (probably could argue our 1c pitcher went yesterday afternoon) and about this time in camp where teams are getting alittle worn out (4 games in 26 hours will do that to you) we fared very well.

Game 1 Wolfe pitched a gem and we won 8-0 -- it was a 1-0 game until the bottom of the 5th where we scored 2 more and then added 5 in the bottom of the 6th. Solid game all around and much needed kind of game for us.

Game 2 Stoll started (only went 5.....haha) and when he exited it was 13-0 game - we had Brooksy come in and close the game down and secure the 14-2 victory for us.

We move to 3-1 for the day - I thought I heard we were amongst many 3-1 teams -- we had 2 teams at 2-0 prior to today - the first team we beat was one of them.

Tomorrow is the "day off" (well afternoon off) with only one game at 9:30am.

I finally got a hit today -- but just 1 - I have plenty of more games to get a few more - my timing is off and lunging forward in the box -- but considering we are 3-1 and myself with a terrible hitting performance -- I will take it. 

Need to take 2 and go to right.

Day 1 in the books

Quick post before the team dinner this evening.

I pitched the first game vs the NorthStar Ninjas -- we were sailing along after 5 with a nice 5-1 lead after getting 3 runs in the 3rd and 2 more in the 4th.

The top of the 6th came around and it was a bit of a circus show -- I didn't register an out and the Ninjas plated home 5 (they have a run rule limit) and took the lead at 6-5. We tied it up in the bot of 6th with one run. The 7th inning started with a strange twist - I looked around and the Ninjas had the bases loaded prior to the first batter coming to the plate.  I looked at Jacques Jones and said, "Is this a new camp rule?" - I was thinking since it was tied up in the last inning the camp was trying to see if runs will be scored to end the game a bit faster, but no rule changes, Jacques and Tommy Watkins were just trying something on us since the prior inning they left the bases loaded.  It was kind of funny.  The 7th inning begins in regular fashion -- meaning no one on base -- they do plate a run in the top of 7th and we go to the bottom of the 7th looking for a walk off. Well it was looking real pretty - we loaded the bases with nobody out. Our batter hits sharp grounder to first - the 1B man grabbed the ball, touched first and spun and threw home and he's out as well - WHAT? - 2 Outs now and a runners on 2nd and 3rd - it was a great play and one of those "only at fantasy camp moments". The next batter redeems the day as the very next pitch was driven over the LF head and both runners score to win the game 8-7.  Whew!

The 2nd game Kevin took the mound - I will keep this brief -- we lost the game 4-0 -- all runs were unearned and we couldn't get anything going against CJ who pitched real well and had some fine defense behind him.  A win for the 6905ers team who now are also 1-1 for the day.

I didn't get to see how the afternoon games fared since I had to chug a beer and then head back with the family.

Tonight is a great team bonding moment with going out to eat - should be fun.

Let's hope tomorrow I can find a hit - I went 0 for 5 today -- slow start -- i probably should have had 2 hits maybe 3 - but a couple of nice defensive plays didn't let me find those fantasy camp hits you can get.
